Highly sensitive and selective water-soluble fluorescent probe for the detection of formaldehyde in leather products

Excess formaldehyde (FA) provides a significant threat that causes irreversible damage to both the environment and human health, long-term FA emission from commercial leather products is problem. Therefore, help control content, we propose fluorescence-based method detect selectively using reaction-based probe FAP-1. Water-soluble FAP-1 was simply synthesized through two steps optical properties of towards species relevant making were evaluated. Then number genuine samples analyzed reveal content. Compared with international standards, fluorescence competitive 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine (DNPH) HPLC method, superior acetylacetone (ACAC) UV–Vis method. As result its reliability, low-cost, simple synthesis, ease operation reduced measurement time compared standard methods, our exhibits great potential for analysis found in other industrial products.

Effective fluorescent sensing of oxalate in water is significant but still remains a challenge. By using indicator-displacement assays, a readily available macrocyclic copper(II) complex was found to show a sensitive off-on fluorescent sensing for oxalate with high selectivity and high binding affinity (>10(7) M(-1)) in water at neutral pH.
